As many of you will have read in the Newspapers the churches will re-open on Sunday 5th July.  Sunday services will restart at Olveston at 10am and at St. Helen’s at 10.30am.   For the time being the Diocese have recommended that the online services and the services by ZOOM continue., so those who are shielding can still enjoy Sunday Worship,  I am very grateful for the music that some of the choir member at Olveston, and the Worship band at Alveston have produced.  We will need to continue to do music this way as singing in church at the moment is not allowed.

The South West has been very fortunate in escaping the worst effects of the Covid 19 virus but to keep the virus at bay the church for the time being will have to be different.  Unfortunately the church wardens and I carry the responsibility -at times having to say “no” to the enthusiasm of those who just wish (as we all do!)  that our churches will return to normal ASAP.

It is not that we want to quench your enthusiasm but it is important that the church is a witnessing community by being obedient to the government and Church of England guidelines

Quite a few of you have said they would like to see more of the Vicar at St. Mary’s Olveston.  As we look to the future Steve and I will be sharing out the rota a little differently so I can visit St. Mary’s more regularly.

Stay safe and stay alert
